Why is my campaign paused?
A paused campaign stopped part-way and will not restart on its own. Every pause records a reason, so the first step is to read it rather than guess.
Open the campaign from Campaigns — the pause reason is shown on it.
The reasons you will actually see
Paused manually
Someone clicked pause. Click Resume to continue where it left off.
Today's send allowance is used up
Your account hit its daily sending cap while the campaign was running. Remaining recipients have not been dropped — the campaign is waiting. The cap resets at 00:00 UTC, so Resume after that. The cap is set by your plan size, so a bigger monthly plan raises it. See Your sending limits and usage.
The account's credits ran out
Email is paid in credits — 25 per 1,000 emails — and the campaign sent what your credits covered. The rest is still queued; nothing is lost. Add credits from the Plans page (a top-up if you are on a monthly plan, or choose a plan), then click Resume to send the rest. See Running out of credits.
Deliverability review — bounce rate
Too many addresses bounced. This is the most common automatic pause and the most important to take seriously: mailbox providers judge you on how often you send to addresses that do not exist, and continuing damages delivery for every future campaign.
A bounce rate above 2% is a warning sign and above 4% is where a campaign gets stopped.
Do not just resume. Find out where the list came from — a bought or very old list is the usual cause. See Invalid addresses, bounces and unsubscribes.
Deliverability review — complaint rate
Too many recipients marked the message as spam. The tolerances here are far tighter than people expect: 0.03% is a warning and 0.08% is enough to stop a campaign. That is roughly one complaint in twelve hundred.
Complaints usually mean the audience did not expect the email — an old list, an unclear opt-in, or content that does not match what people signed up for. Resuming without changing anything tends to produce more complaints.
Sending domain not fully authenticated
Your domain's DNS records are incomplete. Fix them on the Senders page and click Check DNS — see Verify a sending domain.
Audience has never been validated
The list has not been checked for deliverable addresses, so sending to it is a bounce risk. Validate or clean it before continuing.
Resuming
When the underlying cause is genuinely resolved, open the campaign and click Resume. It continues from where it stopped — recipients already sent to are not mailed twice.
If the pause was a deliverability review, treat Resume as a decision, not a formality. The pause is protecting your ability to reach the inbox at all.
Next: open the campaign from Campaigns and read its pause reason before doing anything else.
