The recommended sending pace on a new domain
Each verified domain on the Senders page shows a Recommended sending pace panel, with a bar comparing what you have sent today against the suggested volume.
It is guidance, not a limit
The panel is labelled Guidance only, and it means it. Nothing stops you sending past it. What actually stops a send is your daily sending cap (set by your plan size) or running out of credits — see Your sending limits and usage.
That is deliberate — a panel that reads like a restriction when it is not one would be a lie. But it also means exceeding it is your decision to make knowingly, not something the system will catch for you.
The three states
- Begins with your first send — the domain is verified but has sent nothing yet. The pace starts counting from your first campaign.
- Stage N of 9 — you are ramping. The recommended volume grows each stage.
- Established — no further guidance — the domain has a sending history and the panel stops advising.
Why a new domain needs ramping at all
Mailbox providers have no history for a brand-new sending domain, so they treat it with suspicion. Volume that would be unremarkable from an established domain looks like a spam run from a new one.
Nine stages sounds slow. It is much faster than recovering a domain that providers have decided to distrust, which takes months and is not entirely within your control.
Practical advice while ramping
- Send to your most engaged contacts first. Opens and clicks from real people are the evidence providers are looking for.
- Do not open with your oldest list. See The checks shown before you send — the cold and dormant list warnings exist for exactly this moment.
- If you must exceed the pace, do it once with a good list rather than repeatedly with a mediocre one.
Next: open Senders and check which stage your domain is at before planning a large send.
