Sending from more than one domain

You can add as many domains as you need on the Senders page. Each one gets its own DNS records and its own verification — see What the DNS records actually do.

Sender profiles then sit on whichever domain you choose, and each campaign picks a sender.

A subdomain is a separate domain here

example.com and news.example.com are different sending identities and each needs verifying. That is not a quirk — mailbox providers judge them separately too, which is precisely why a dedicated marketing subdomain is a common setup.

Why you might want a second one

  • Separating marketing from transactional mail. Receipts and password resets are mail people want; a marketing campaign that draws complaints should not be able to damage delivery of the mail that keeps customers working.
  • More than one brand from the same account.

The cost of splitting

Each domain builds its own reputation from nothing, and each has to ramp through its own recommended pace — see The recommended sending pace. Splitting your volume across three domains means three slow starts rather than one established sender.

For most accounts, one well-warmed domain beats three cold ones. Add the second when you have a real reason, not in anticipation of one.

Several brands usually means several workspaces

If the domains belong to genuinely separate businesses, separate workspaces are usually the better structure — contacts, audiences and senders stay apart rather than mingling in one list. See Workspaces.

Next: open Senders → Add Domain, and check whether a second domain is solving a problem you actually have.
