What each sending domain status means
Each domain in Sending Domains on the Senders page carries a status badge. Here is what each one is telling you.
Setup
You added the domain but have not finished adding its DNS records yet. Open the domain to see the DNS records to add panel.
Pending
The records are in and we are waiting on DNS to propagate. This is normal and usually resolves within minutes, though some providers take several hours.
Nothing re-checks on its own — click Check DNS when you want an update.
Verified
Authentication is working. You can add sender profiles on this domain and send from it.
Action needed
Something is set up but incomplete — typically some records resolved and others did not. Open the domain and compare each record against what your DNS provider actually returns. The usual culprits are a copied value that lost a character, a record added to the wrong subdomain, or an existing conflicting record.
Failed
Verification was attempted and did not succeed. Re-check every record, then click Check DNS again.
The most common cause
Nearly every stuck domain comes down to one of three things:
- Records were added at a different DNS provider than the one actually serving the domain — common when a site was migrated.
- The provider silently appended the domain name to a record that already included it, producing something like
key._domainkey.example.com.example.com. - An existing root SPF record was edited when it should have been left alone.
Next: open Senders, find the domain, and click Check DNS — that is what refreshes the status.
