Choosing which sender to send from

Each campaign picks a Sender Profile in its Details step. One profile is marked Default and is pre-selected.

Pick the from-name people recognise

The Display Name is what most recipients actually read in their inbox — more than the subject, and far more than the address. It should be the name they associate with signing up, which is usually your brand rather than a person or a department.

Changing it between sends costs you recognition. Consistency is worth more here than variety.

A note on noreply

A noreply@ address is a common default and a poor one. Replies are a positive signal to mailbox providers, and someone replying to your campaign is engaged — sending that to a black hole wastes both.

Use an address a person actually reads, or set Reply-To to one. See Replies to your campaigns.

When to use different senders

  • Different brands — a distinct profile per brand, usually on its own domain.
  • Different kinds of mail — a newsletter and a support-style announcement can legitimately come from different names.

What is not worth doing is varying the sender between similar campaigns. Recipients use the from-name to decide whether to open, and an unfamiliar one reads as unsolicited.

It has to be on a verified domain

Only profiles on a verified sending domain can be used. If the sender you expect is missing from the dropdown, its domain is the place to look — see Verify a sending domain.

Next: open Senders and check which profile is marked Default — that is what your next campaign will use.
