My website isn't building, updating or publishing

Find the message you see below. Most of these are waits or settings, not faults.

"Building your website" for a long time

The first build usually takes a few minutes. It runs in the background, so leaving the page does not stop it. A request that is still running after 15 minutes is treated as dead, closed, and its credits refunded — send it again.

"Building the latest version for the preview"

The preview is catching up with your newest version. It takes about a minute and the page updates on its own.

"Preview unavailable"

Only the live preview is off; the site still builds and publishes. Click the reload icon above the preview, or try again shortly.

The chat says "Something went wrong with that request"

Nothing was changed and the credits were refunded. Send the request again, ideally more specific. "I can't help with that request on this site" means the request was refused; describe the change differently.

"Wait for the current change to finish"

One request runs at a time per site. Wait for the assistant's reply.

Limits you can hit

  • "That's a lot of requests in a short time" — the limit is 40 per person per hour. Wait a few minutes.
  • "Other sites in this workspace are being worked on" — two sites per workspace can be worked on at once.
  • "This workspace has reached today's website builder limit. It resets at midnight UTC."

I can't create a website

  • Not enough credits — a build needs 150 credits. If the credits are the workspace owner's, ask them to add more. See Running out of credits.
  • Plan limit — "Your … plan includes N websites." Delete a site or upgrade.
  • "A site already exists for that domain" — open the existing site instead.
  • "The website builder is part of the paid plan." — the account paying for the workspace needs a paid plan.

My changes aren't on the live site

Edits change the preview first. If the top button reads Update site, click it — the live site only changes when you publish.

"Publish failed"

The site is fine; the publish did not go through. The reason appears in a message — often that Vercel is not connected. Open Publish and check Hosting in the Go live window, then publish again. See Publish your site.

My domain doesn't show the site

Check its label under Domain: Waiting for DNS means the records are not visible yet. See Connect your own domain.

Next: if you contact support, include the exact message and the site name.
