Edit text and images directly
You can change words and pictures on your site without using the chat, and it costs nothing. In the editor, click Edit above the preview. The button changes to Editing and a bar reads "Direct edits are free."
Change text
Click any text in the preview and type. Enter saves, Esc cancels. A message confirms Text updated and the change is saved as a new version.
Sometimes the same words appear in more than one place, or come from a list the page builds itself. Then the change cannot be pinned to one spot, so it is handed to the assistant instead — you'll see Sent to the assistant. That request is charged like any chat change (usually 10 credits).
Replace an image
In edit mode, click an image. The Replace image window opens with three tabs:
- Upload — choose a file from your computer.
- Library — pick one of the images already in your workspace's media library.
- Generate — describe the picture you want, choose a shape (Wide (16:9), Standard (4:3), Square or Tall) and click Generate. Each image costs 2 credits. If you like it, click Use this image; if not, Generate another.
The new image replaces the old one in place, and a message confirms Image replaced.
Tips for generating: describe a real photograph — subject, setting, light. Ask for no text, logos or signs in the picture; they rarely come out right.
Check it on a phone
The phone and desktop icons above the preview switch the view. Use the phone view after changing long headings — what fits on a laptop can wrap badly on a phone.
When direct editing is unavailable
Edit is greyed out while the assistant is working on a chat request, and until the preview has loaded. Wait for the request to finish.
Undoing a direct edit
Every direct edit is a version. Open Versions and Restore the one before it — see Versions and restoring.
Direct edits change the preview only. A site that is already live needs Update site to show them — see Publish your site.
Next: click Edit and fix the first thing you'd want a customer not to see.
