Versions and restoring an earlier version
Every change to your site is saved as a version, so nothing is ever lost by editing. In the editor, click Versions at the top to see them all, newest first.
What each version shows
- What changed, in a short description.
- When it was saved, and how many files it touched.
- build failed, if that version did not build.
- Current — the version you are editing now.
- Live — the version that is published.
A new version is saved after every chat request (the reply ends with Saved as a version) and after every direct edit.
Restore an earlier version
Click Restore on the version you want. A message confirms Version restored and the preview reloads.
Restoring does not delete anything. It saves the old version again as the newest one, named "Restored: …", so you can restore forward to where you were just as easily.
Restoring is free.
Restoring and the live site
Restoring changes the editor and the preview only. If the site is live, the button at the top changes to Update site — click it to publish the restored version. Until then, visitors still see the version marked Live.
When Restore is greyed out
While the assistant is working on a request, restoring waits until it finishes.
Share the preview
Share at the top copies the preview link, so you can send it to someone before you publish. The link always shows the latest version, not a fixed snapshot.
See the code
Code at the top opens the site's files so you can look at them. If you saved the code to GitHub when you set up hosting, every publish also lands in your repository — see Publish your site.
Next: before a big change ("redesign the home page"), note which version is Current, so you know where to come back to.
