Are tool results cached?
Yes. Running the same tool on the same input again returns the stored result and is not charged a second time.
How long results are kept
Between about a week and a fortnight, depending on the tool. Data-heavy tools — the ones calling a paid source — are cached longest, because those are the runs that actually cost money.
Free tools are cached too. There is simply nothing to save on them.
Why you get the same result after making a change
This is the one place the cache surprises people.
If you re-run a check on the same URL shortly after fixing something and see an identical result, you are most likely looking at the cached run rather than a fresh one.
Ways round it:
- Wait. The cache expires on its own.
- Change the input. A different URL — including a genuinely different page — is a different run.
- Check the change is actually live. Frequently the cache is innocent and the fix has not deployed, or is behind a CDN still serving the old page.
Rule out the last one first. It is the most common and the cheapest to check: open the page in a private window and look.
Why cache rather than always re-run
A repeat lookup would cost real money at the upstream provider and return the same answer. Charging you for that would be charging for nothing. It also means you can revisit a result without thinking about the price.
Next: if a re-run looks stale, open the page in a private window first and confirm your change is live.
