Set goals and track your pace
Goals let you set a weekly or monthly target, such as $10,000 revenue a month, and see each day whether you're on pace to hit it. They live in the Goals card on Analytics → Overview.
Add a goal
- In the Goals card, click Add goal.
- Choose what the goal is for: Revenue, Orders, Visitors, Conversion rate, ROAS or Ad spend (budget).
- Choose per month or per week.
- Enter the target. Money is in your report currency, conversion rate is a percentage (at most 100), and ROAS is a multiple, such as 4.
- Click Save.
There is one goal per measure and period. Saving a new monthly revenue goal replaces the old one rather than adding a second.
To remove a goal, hover over it and click the bin icon.
Anyone who can edit the workspace can set goals. Viewers can see them but not change them.
Reading a goal
Each goal shows a progress bar, the amount so far against the target, where today's pace is heading, and the days left in the week or month. A small marker on the bar shows where you'd be today on an even pace.
The status beside it:
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Ahead | Ahead of an even pace |
| On track | Roughly on pace |
| Behind | Behind pace |
| Just started | Too early in the period to judge |
Ad spend (budget) works the other way round, because spending more is the bad side. It shows Under budget or Over budget instead.
Goals always track the current calendar month, or the current week running Monday to Sunday, whatever date range the rest of the page is showing.
When a goal is off track
An insight card may flag a goal that is falling behind, with a See goals link. If you get the monthly report, it includes Your goals for the month.
Next: open Analytics, click Add goal and set a monthly revenue target.
