Edit, delete, react to and pin messages

Hover over any message in Team Chat for its actions: Reply, Pin, Edit and Delete. You'll only see the actions you're allowed to use on that message.

Edit

You can edit your own messages, and nobody else's. Click Edit, change the text and save. The message is marked as edited. Pressing the up arrow in an empty message box edits your last message. A message can't be emptied: delete it instead.

Delete

Click Delete and confirm. The message is removed for everyone in the conversation, and this can't be undone.

• You can always delete your own messages.
• Workspace owners and admins can also delete other people's messages in channels.
• Nobody can delete the other person's messages in a direct message.

Reactions

Click Add a reaction on a message and choose an emoji, or click an existing reaction to add yours. Click your reaction again to take it back. Hovering over a reaction shows who left it. One message can have up to 20 different emoji, and each person can leave up to 10.

Pins

Pinning keeps an important message in a bar at the top of the conversation. Click Pin on the message. Clicking the bar jumps to that message, and clicking again moves on to the next pin. Click Unpin in the bar to remove it.

• Each conversation holds up to 3 pins. Pinning a fourth unpins the oldest.
• In a direct message, either person can pin.
• In a channel, only the person who created the channel or a workspace owner or admin can pin.

Seen and delivered

Your latest message shows Sent, Delivered or Seen. Delivered means the other person has had the chat open since you sent it. In a channel it shows Seen by and a number. Hover over it to see the names.

A message didn't send

If a message shows "Not sent", you were probably offline or the connection dropped. Check the connection status in the header. When it no longer says Reconnecting, send the message again.
