US carriers require every business to register before it can text US numbers from a local number. Open SMS → Sender registration. The page is titled Compliance and has three numbered steps.

This applies only to US and Canadian local numbers. Toll-free numbers use a separate verification, and texting other countries needs none of this.

1. Your business

Fill in your legal details: Legal company name (exactly as on your IRS registration), Brand / trading name, Business type, Industry, Tax ID / EIN, address, contact details and Website (must start with https://). Then click Register business.

A mismatch with your official registration is the most common reason for rejection. There is a one-time carrier fee, and only an owner or admin can register. Vetting takes 1–7 business days; you can carry on meanwhile.

2. Campaigns

A campaign here is a description of what you will text, not a send. Click New campaign and work through Campaign use case, Carrier terms preview, Campaign details (description, opt-in workflow, keywords, auto-responses, sample messages, privacy and terms links) and Payment and confirmation.

Tick I agree to the fees above. and click Submit. The Campaign fee is billed monthly from your SMS credit, with a 3 months minimum commitment. Submitting cannot be undone, even if the campaign is rejected.

3. Your numbers

Once a campaign is approved, click Link next to each US or Canadian number. Linked numbers on an approved campaign are cleared to send to US numbers.

What the campaign status means

  • Registering, Pending review, In review — nothing needed from you. Review usually takes one to a few business days.
  • Approved — link a number now.
  • With the carriers, Accepted by carriers — you can send; delivery improves as each carrier confirms.
  • Live — fully active on all carriers.
  • Rejected in review or Rejected by carriers — open it to see Why it was rejected, click Fix and resubmit, correct the fields, then Resubmit for review. Resubmitting is free.
  • Rejected by the registry or Expired — register a new campaign.
  • Suspended or Provisioning failed — sending is blocked. Contact support.
  • Deactivated — you stopped it; it is not billed again.

Click Refresh status to check for updates.

If you see Your account needs verifying before you can register., contact support. Enabling usually takes up to 48 hours.

Next: register your business, then submit one campaign for the messages you send most.
