Brand Kit versions, and when a kit fails

You can make a fresh version of a kit from your website whenever the site changes, compare it with the last one, and switch between them. If a kit can't be built, your credits are returned automatically.

Make a new version

Open the kit and click the version button at the top (it reads e.g. Version 2 of 2, or Versions). Choose Make a new version from the site. This opens the create form with your website filled in; click Generate Brand Kit.

A new version is a whole new kit and costs 100 credits. It reads your site again from scratch, so hand edits on the old version are not carried over — the old version keeps them. To change one section only, rewrite it instead for 10 credits — see Edit or rewrite a section.

Switch and compare

The same menu lists every version with its date. Click one to open it.

Compare with version N shows what changed from the previous version, section by section, with the old text and the new side by side. "No differences in what the kits say." means the two versions match.

Kit statuses

In the kit menu at the top right of the Brand Kit page:

StatusMeaning
GeneratingStill being built. Sections fill in as they are drafted.
ReadyFinished. Edit, share and download are available.
FailedIt could not be built. The credits were returned.

When a kit fails

A failed kit shows "We couldn't build this Brand Kit, so the credits were returned. Please try again in a few minutes." You don't need to ask for a refund. Wait a few minutes and create it again.

If only a few sections fail, the kit still finishes and each failed section offers a free Retry. If half or more of the drafted sections fail, the whole kit is marked Failed and refunded, because half a kit is not what you paid for.

Common causes

  • The website couldn't be read — check the address opens in a browser, and that it is the business's real site, not a link-in-bio page.
  • Wrong logo or colours — the site may show a partner's logo or a seasonal banner first. Fix it by hand: Replace logo on Logo, or edit the Color Palette.
  • Generic voice or audience — the site says little about the business. Make a new version with the three quick questions answered, or rewrite those sections with a note.

Next: after a redesign, make a new version and compare it with the last.
