Task notifications, emails and due-date reminders
The Action Board tells people about the changes that need them. Each alert goes to the Notifications bell in the top bar and, for most events, by email too. Clicking an alert or an email opens that task on the board.
What triggers an alert
- You're assigned a task or a subtask.
- Something is submitted for review. The task's creator gets an email saying it's ready for their review, and everyone else on the task is told it was submitted. If the creator has left the workspace, its owners and admins are notified.
- A task is approved, sent back or reopened. Everyone on the task hears about it, along with any note.
- Someone comments. The creator, the assignees and whoever submitted the task are notified.
- Someone @mentions you in a comment. You always get a mention, and you won't also get the plain comment alert for the same message.
- A due date is coming up. Once a day, open tasks due today or tomorrow trigger a reminder, and a task gets one more reminder when it becomes overdue. These go to the assignees, or to the creator if no one is assigned. Done tasks get no reminders, and changing the due date starts the reminders again.
You're never notified about something you did yourself. People who have left the workspace get nothing.
Fewer comment emails
The bell shows every comment, but you get at most one comment email per task every 30 minutes, so a busy thread doesn't flood your inbox.
Where to see them
Click the Notifications bell and open the Activity tab. Mark activity read clears the unread count. Sound, desktop pop-ups and notifications while the browser is closed share their settings with team chat. Change them under Notification settings in the bell. See Team chat notifications.
The My tasks page also gathers everything assigned to you, with overdue work at the top.
Stopping task emails
Every Action Board email has a one-click unsubscribe link. It stops Action Board emails only. Other Brainito emails still arrive, and the bell keeps working.
Not getting alerts?
- Check you're actually on the task. Being in the workspace isn't enough.
- If you clicked unsubscribe in an earlier task email, task emails stay off.
- Look in your spam folder for the first email.
