Email Funnels

An email funnel is a segment plus a sequence

Decide who enters, write the emails in order, set the waits between them, and name the goal that lets a person out. That is the whole thing. Below are three funnels built the way they come in Brainito, with every step and what each costs for 1,000 contacts at 25 credits per 1,000 emails.

What your funnels would cost to run

A funnel sends a few emails to each person who enters. Put in how many people enter a month and how many funnel emails that produces, and compare with tools that charge by list size whether or not anyone enters a funnel.

6,000 (3 per contact)

Campaigns plus automations. Not sure? 4 per contact is typical.

Your Brainito cost

Estimated cost $20 a month, Starter plan$5$500

6,000 emails is 150 credits at 25 per 1,000. Starter adds 600 credits a month; the rest pays for audits, SEO and the tools.

The same list elsewhere

Published prices at the 2,500-contact tier, the smallest each vendor lists that covers 2,000 contacts.

  • MailchimpEssentials, not published at this size$45/mo
  • KlaviyoEmail, not published at this size$60/mo
  • Brevopriced on send volumeNot listed

Brainito at the same volume: $20/mo, starter plan.

Competitor figures are published list prices, verified September 2026, at the nearest published tier rather than your exact count. Some are annual-billing or calculated rates, marked on the row. Check the vendor’s own calculator before you switch.

The arithmetic below is on the credit rate, not customer results. Plans from $20 a month, cancel any time, or 100 credits for $5.

Three funnels, step by step, costed

Costs assume all 1,000 contacts receive every step. Branches and goals usually let people out earlier, so the real figure is lower.

  • Welcome funnel: 3 emails, 75 credits per 1,000 contacts

Enters when a contact is created from a form, an import or your store. Email one on the spot, wait two days, email two on how to get the most from you, wait three days, email three with something to get started. 3,000 emails for 1,000 contacts is 75 credits, which is $2.50 at the Starter rate.

  • Abandoned cart funnel: 2 emails, 50 credits per 1,000 carts

Enters on an abandoned checkout event from your store. Email one asks whether they forgot something, wait 20 hours, email two offers a nudge. A goal of placed order lets a person out the moment they buy, so most never see the second email and the cost falls below 50 credits.

  • Win-back funnel: 2 emails, 50 credits per 1,000 lapsed customers

Enters when a contact joins a lapsed segment you define, for instance ordered at least once but not in 90 days. Email one with a reason to return, wait five days, email two as a last call. Add a text step for the ones who open neither, charged per message.

  • The segment is the top of the funnel

Segments are built from behavior, orders and value, tags, properties, dates, location and consent, nested with AND and OR. Segment entered is a trigger, so defining the audience is the same act as defining who enters.

  • Where people come in

Lead forms on a site built in the same workspace land in contacts and can start a funnel on the spot. So can Shopify customers and orders, Meta and Google lead forms, CSV imports and events from your own system through the API.

  • The goal is the bottom

Name the goal, such as placed order, and a person leaves the funnel the moment they reach it. A smart wait can also move someone forward early when the event arrives instead of holding them for the full delay.

  • Revenue per funnel

With a store connected, orders are attributed to the funnel email that earned them. You see enrollments, sends, opens, clicks and revenue for each funnel, next to campaigns and the rest of your channels.

  • Pay for the emails, not the list

The 1,000 contacts in each example cost nothing to hold. You pay 25 credits per 1,000 emails sent, from the same balance that runs SEO, the site builder and audits. Unused credits never expire.

Build a funnel in three moves

  1. Decide who enters

Pick a trigger: contact created, a store event such as abandoned checkout, or a segment you define, such as customers who have not ordered in 90 days. The segment recomputes on its own, so the funnel keeps filling.

  2. Write the sequence

Start from Welcome Series, Abandoned Checkout Recovery or Win-Back in the gallery. Edit each email in the designer, send yourself a test, set the waits, and add a branch or a text step where it helps.

  3. Set the goal and turn it on

Add a goal such as placed order so people leave when they convert. Activate the funnel, connect the form or store that feeds it, and read enrollments and revenue in its report.
